“Just Like That,” Bonnie Raitt: I pay about zero attention to the Grammys because I pay about zero attention to what the kids are listening to today, but it did catch my attention in February that Bonnie Raitt won Song of the Year. Really, Bonnie Raitt? Not because Raitt ain’t great, but because in the year 2023, I don’t picture her outpolling people like Taylor Swift. (Swift’s “All Too Well” is the only song from the Grammy nominees I knew before this one.)

All I can say now is that the voters had their act together. “Just Like That” caught me off guard, a slow, measured twang through two verses and the chorus before the song truly revealed itself.
