Honk if you love ... anger
Really, dude, what's your hurry? Also: Today at 12 noon PT, join my AMA at Reddit (r/dodgers)
Happy day after week after Thanksgiving, folks.
Today (Friday) at 12 noon PT, I am holding an Ask Me Anything session — which the kids call an AMA — at Reddit. Not that you can’t ask me anything here, but this is an occasion.
My motivation is to promote Slayed by Voices, but the reality is that the time will be spent answering questions about anything besides Slayed by Voices. Mostly about the Dodgers, but surprise me!
Hoping some of you will stop by, so that I am not greeted by crickets, who do not ask interesting questions. I’m not that worried, though, because the last time I did one of these Reddit chats (in 2018, when Brothers in Arms was coming out), we got a great turnout. It was a welcome change from the book signings held for my benefit, two of which brought me fewer than five visitors. Now that was painful.
One time was at the LAPL Central Library downtown, about a quarter of a block from where I got married. Bob Timmermann and Mary McCoy ever so kindly helped make that happen, but in the end I had to do a chapter reading for five people (including Bob and my brother) spread among 75 folding chairs. Followed by a (sigh) Q&A. Like, one question, one answer.
Another time, I was at the Barnes & Noble in Burbank, and I sat at a table almost smack dab in the middle of the store with about 40 copies of the book available for me to sign. Over the course of two hours, I think I signed three. The bookstore employee who set up the table might have thought it uncomfortable, but trust me, she didn’t know just how much.
So I guess what I’m saying is … show up to Reddit if you can, and feel free to ask me a non-Dodger question if you want. Or just follow along on the chat.
Cool. Let’s move on to my opening conversation piece …
