Wednesday was a busy day on Slayed, so we’re going to settle back and keep things simpler today. First, three more songs for the Slaylist, which can be found at Spotify. Second, three quick notes on TV series that I’ve been watching.
“He Stopped Loving Her Today,” George Jones. Showtime on Sunday premieres a new limited series, George & Tammy, starring Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain about the volatile lives and careers of country music legends George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Wynette’s “Stand by Your Man” is iconic, but I admit I knew little about her and less about Jones until Ken Burns’ country music documentary — the same means that launched my love affair with Emmylou Harris.
