On Thursday, I drove two miles to our local branch of the United States Post Office. The reason for my visit was that it had been eight days since the last mail delivery to our house.

We’ve had erratic delivery on our street for a few years now. I think it predates the Louis DeJoy era that began with an appointment by a Donald Trump-selected USPS Board of Governors in May 2020. The timetable seems to fit the decline of service — I just can’t remember attributing it to DeJoy when it began.
