Happy Thanksgiv — oh wait, that’s over. Here’s the thing, though: You can still be thankful today. It’s a little-known secret, but one worth sharing.
As I talked about a few days ago, we’ve got the full family home. Unfortunately, Dana and I both got sick — Dana was as sick as I’ve ever seen her earlier this week, though it wasn’t Covid. I picked up something Wednesday, bad enough that we didn’t chance it with my mid-80s parents and stayed away from Thanksgiving dinner with extended family.
I thought I was going to be safely resigned to this outcome, but when the kids walked out the door to head to their grandparents’ house, depression roundhoused me. It took a while for that to pass, and at least Dana and I were together. In a way, the afternoon and evening put giving thanks for my family into bold-faced type.
Now, the main mission is not to get Young Miss Weisman and Young Master Weisman sick before they fly back to school, while enjoying the time we have left with them this weekend. I’m still under the weather. Dana is scheduled to perform tonight, so hopefully she can rally.
